hello 3rd trimester!

Today I had my first appointment in the 3rd trimester...now I'll be going about every two weeks. It went fantastically well. They had the results from the glucose test and I'm all good...my body knows how to process sugar. Yay! So I don't have to go in for any further testing in that regard. My hemoglobin is good and my Vit. D levels have gone up. I was low in Vit. D early on and now I'm doing awesome. They measured my belly and I'm right at 27 cm. I still have low blood pressure at 98/60 and the baby's heart is beating at 140, so we are a healthy pair and that makes me happy!

The baby is about 2 1/4 pounds and is about 15 inches long and is about the size of a chinese cabbage.  Thus the picture up top.  She is kicking like crazy down on my left side by my hip.  She seems pretty content to hang out in the same spot all the time!

All is good as we enter the third trimester and that is awesome news in my book!

glucose test...

It was as fantastic as everyone said it would be! Who doesn't enjoy chugging a 12 ounce sugary tang flavored cocktail first thing and then hanging out for an hour to get 3 vials of blood drawn. It's fantastic that it is over with. Now I just get to wait for the results. Hopefully, everything comes back fine and there is no diabetes of any kind for us!

27 weeks and kicking...

She's about 2 pounds now and 14 1/2 inches long. They say that she's about the size (weight) of a head of cauliflower. She's definitely an active baby and seems to kick consistently down by my left hip. I don't know why she's picked that spot, but we can watch my skin move when she kicks there. It's crazy. As Mat says, my stomach quivers...

4 and 7 anniversary

4/7 Anniversary - July 18, 2010

Hard to believe I met Mat 7 years ago coming into the BCO wanting a permit to do a crazy backpack for his job.  We've been on a lot of fun and beautiful adventures together and I'm happy that he came to Rocky that summer to work!  One of those adventures led to a proposal on a deserted island off the coast of Honduras that we kayaked to and a wedding that July 4 years ago.

Now we've got an awesome, energetic, and slightly bark-happy dog and in a few months we'll be having a little baby!

26 weeks down...about 14 more to go

No picture of me this week, but she is supposedly the size of a english hothouse cucumber, is about 14 inches long and weighs a pound and two-thirds. We go in for our monthly doctor's appointment today and then starting in two weeks, we'll be going every two weeks. Jeepers, I can't believe it's all ready time for that. The next few things we'll get to do is: get a gestational diabetes test (I hear that is fun!) and get another ultrasound to ensure that the placenta has moved up. I guess in the original ultrasound it looked like the placenta was lying too low and while they are 99% sure that it will move up, they want to make sure. I don't mind, I can't wait to see her again. Especially since we've been feeling her kick like crazy, it will be fun to watch her on the screen. :-)

Mat has been working diligently on our back porch remodel. It's taking up a lot of his free time. But once it's done, it will be amazing to have a washer and dryer, especially since I hear babies go through many outfits a day!

it moves...

my belly that is and it grows...daily. I now can place the checkbook on my belly when balancing it! The baby is definitely going through a growth spurt. I feel like every day for the past 2 weeks, my belly is bigger than the day before. She's been moving a lot the last couple of days as well. I seem to notice her movement more in the evenings and on my days off, probably because I'm paying more attention to it than on days when I'm busy at work!

a rutabaga

She's the size of a rutabaga this week.  This is something we should have tried to grow in our garden, maybe we'll try them next year.  Our garden is having to take care of itself this year.  I'm not weeding hardly at all because it's so HOT and it's not raining so it's hardly growing.  But we do have tons of green tomatoes and some peppers out on the plants.  So we should get something and we've been getting cucumbers.  But I've been a slacker gardener this year and it's not helping that it's not raining at our house.  Anyway, the baby weighs about 1 1/2 pounds this week and is about 13 1/2 inches long.

Happy 4th of July weekend!

It was a lovely holiday weekend here in Asheville. The weather was a wee bit cooler than it has been and will be, so it was pleasant to be outside. On Saturday night, we went down to Shindig on the Green and it was a fun evening of listening to some bluegrass music and seeing some cloggers.

Graveyard Fields Hike

Graveyard Fields Hike - dwarf st. john's wort

On the 4th of July, I was scheduled for a rove day, so I went hiking at Graveyard Fields. It was a beautiful day and I was able to speak with a bunch of visitors, so it was a lot of fun.

Mat had a fun weekend of mountain biking and then he spent yesterday working on converting our back room into a laundry room.

Now it's my weekend and I'm taking a environment education workshop for educators. It has been fun so far. I'm going back for day 2 today.

Week 24 - Foot Long

So the baby is almost a foot long according to the email that babycenter sent me today and she weighs about a pound. We are now at 24 weeks.  We've been feeling her kick for the past week or so and recently one evening Mat even got to see my belly move from her kicking or punching.  Pretty cool.  They are describing her as the length of an ear of corn.  But it makes me think of the hot dog contest and Kobayashi (sp?).  So, I'm going to post a picture of a hot dog as my depiction of what her length is instead of the ear of corn.  :-)

Well, I couldn't find a tasty picture of a foot long hot dog, because really is there such a thing?  So, here's a picture I found instead...

How sweet is that?  Nothing to do with my pregnancy, but a pretty cool ride.
