BBQ & Demolition Derby

The evening before J-P and MA and family left to go back to AZ, we had a bbq out on mom's new patio.  It was fun to break it in and make chicken shish kebabs.

Afterwards, we went to Mat's first demolition derby.  It was called the Rabbit Rumble because it was put on by the High School football team to raise money.  It was pretty fun to check out.  Here are some photos from it.  When I figure out how to put video up, we have a pretty sweet video of it as well!

sad news for the Scoville Clan

On May 11, I called my mom to wish her a Happy Mother's Day on Mother's Day and found out that my dad was in the hospital because he hadn't been able to eat for the past week without throwing up. Mom and Dad were hoping to come home that evening after getting tests done. Dad wasn't able to come home until Tuesday evening. I flew into SLC on Tuesday and my sister, Juliette, was nice enough to get me from the airport.  Dad arrived home just before we arrived in Delta.   We spent a couple of nice days with my dad.  On Friday morning, my father passed away.  He was an amazing man and if we didn't believe it, we had lots of visitors to make us aware of how much he had done for the community.  Although I no longer live in such a small town, it is very nice to see the community and members of the church show love and compassion towards my mom.  Everywhere we went someone would come up to speak to us about our dad.  Even though my dad will definitely be missed, I think it shows a nice tribute to my dad and it brings me hope that my mom will not be too lonely in Delta.

our weekend outing...

Mat and I took advantage of the beautiful spring weather and went on a great cross-country bike ride. After some road climbing and single track climbing we got to the downhill portion which was a sweet ride! Not too technical...just fun times! I was riding my Gary Fisher hardtail which was awesome and light. I was getting thrown around by the roots and rocks on the trail - which made for my own fun adventure - while Mat was enjoying his cushy ride!

Amped up and ready to go!

Can you tell we are having a good time? Maddy just runs and runs while we are biking...so this is a well deserved rest.

It was definitely over too soon.  We love that we live in an area that allows us to have such a variety of recreational opportunities!!!!
