R.I.P. Roja
Over a week ago we drove down to Asheville for a week vacation visiting family and friends. The road trip down was a trip down the East Coast that the EPA is probably still looking for us to issue citations as we were a blue haze for the last 7 hours of the trip. Five hours into our drive, the subaru started leaking oil. Not a slow leak, mind you, but a real leak. We stopped every hour to pour 3 quarts of oil in which made for an interesting drive. It went pretty fast because we really did expect our car to die the whole time. We were hoping that it would die within 100 miles of Mat's parents so that we could get a free tow, but surprise, surprise it actually took us to their front door!
As we were driving down, we were reminiscing about all the trips we had taken with Roja. We bought her just in time to move out to Crested Butte, CO and spend a winter there. We drove a couple times to my hometown Delta, UT. At the end of our winter, we then we drove back to Asheville, NC. That fall we did a trip out West and then back to Asheville. Then it went to Florida for 6 weeks and back to Asheville. Then out to Utah and on up to Seattle down to California back to Utah and eventually back to Asheville then down to the Keys and Everglades in Florida back to Asheville. Then we moved up to NY and it died a slow death on our way back to Asheville.
I would say we got some good years out of her!
